Tænksomme pop-tekster er nok mere undtagelsen end reglen, set i det store fugleperspektiv. Jeg har tidligere omtalt den engelske poptøs Lilly Alen. Og hun kan skære en tekst, der vil mere end hjerte-smerte og fængende omkvæd. Hendes nummer 1-hit The Fear er sådan en slags remake af Madonnas Material Girl, hvis enkle budskab var: Du må hyle blandt de ulve, der sammen med. Linving in a material World/And I’m a material Girl. Hos Lilly Alen er uskylden i den materialistiske hengivelse væk. Pigen ønsker sig stadigvæk masser af penge, diamanter og succes, men prisen er en snigende frygt, et realitetstab, forvirring og usikkerhed. Et signalement af 15-minutters-succes-tidsånden?
