The Beatles og The Ed Sullivan Shows

The Beatles’ optræden på The Ed Sullivan Show i tresserne – 1964 og 1965 – er berømt og veldokumenteret. Men i anledning af 50-året for gruppens dannelse udsendes de fire shows, hvor gruppens optrådte, i deres helhed, dvs. inklusive alle Beatles’ numre (20 ialt), alle andre indslag og reklamespots. Og så selvfølgelig lidt ekstramateriale, som det sig hør og bør med den slags udgivelser. I nyrestaurerede udgaver.
Efter sigende så 73 millioner amerikanerne disse shows, og de var med til at starte Beatlemania derovre. Det interessante ved denne udgivelse er ikke kun, at vi får lejlighed til endnu engang at se gruppens optræden i en forbedret kvalitet, men også får en fornemmelse af den tid og ikke mindst det amerikanske tv-medies status anno dazumal.
