Ultimo oktober 1968 var en frodig pladetid. Ud kom Cash Elliott Dream a little dream, Jethro Tull This Was, Deep Purple Book of Taliesyn, Donovan The Hurdy Gurdy Man, Steve Miller Band Sailor, Steppenwolf Second, Trafic Trafic m.fl. Blandt andet noget bubblgum pop og The Osmonds.
Men der var også en del musik, der måske ikke gik i glemmebogen, men ikke med det samme brændte igennem til publikum. Og på udgivelsen Jon Saveges’s 1968 The Year The World Burned kan man over to CD’er lytte til en række sange, der måske ikke ligefrem hittede det år, men absolut fortjener at blive husket. Fra The Kinks (Wonderboy) over MC5 (Kick out the Jams) til mindre kendte sager som fx Spooky Tooth (Sunshine Help Me).
