Historien om Beat-Club

Jeg behøver vel ikke at fortælle, at Beat-Club var et særdeles populært program hos de tyske unge. Derfor er det vel heller ikke underligt, at alle udsendelserne er blevet udsendt på dvd. Tre bokse er der udkommet med hver otte dvd’er under titlen The Story of Beat-Club, delt op i perioderne 1965-68, 1968-70 og 1970-72. Per styk koster de ca. 55 EURO. Og indholdet er imponerende (se indholdsbeskrivelse fra første boks forneden på dette indlæg).
I 2007 kom der også en bog af Torsten Schmidt med detaljerede oplysninger om alle udsendelser, stjerne og sangene. Oven i købet en indbundet bog på 111 sider. Nævnes skal også, at der er kommet en dobbeltcd i forbindelse med 40-års-jubilæet for showet.

Endnu et af de der fantastiske boys-bands fra før begrebet blev født.
Mem Mills Brothers var godt nok de fedeste! ;-)

@AagePK: Blomsterpottemændene var et hitliste-vellykket eksempel pÃ¥ hippieexplotation. Sangskriverparret John Carter og Ken Lewis havde skrevet “Let’s go to San Francisco” og havde ladet Deram Records indspille den med hÃ¥ndplukkede studiemusikere og -sangere. Sangen blev som bekendt et hit, og derfor fik pladeselskabet travlt med at stable et band pÃ¥ benene, som kunne promote sangen og følge op pÃ¥ den. Det sidste kom det til at knibe lidt med. Opfølgeren “A Walk in the Sky” blev et mindre hit udenfor UK, men ellers skete der ikke rigtig noget og gruppen gik langsomt i opløsning og stoppede helt i 1970.
